Complete FAQ on Psychedelic Coaching

Below are answers to the most common questions about psychedelic coaching, integration, legality, credentials, cost, and how to get started. If your question isn't answered here, contact Robert directly.

What is psychedelic coaching?

Psychedelic coaching is psychological preparation and integration support for psychedelic experiences. Robert does NOT provide or prescribe any substances. Instead, he offers:

  • Preparation: Sessions before your experience to clarify intentions, assess readiness, discuss safety, and prepare psychologically
  • Integration: Weekly sessions after to process your experience, work with insights and emotions, and translate learning into life change
  • Harm reduction: Education and support for people exploring psychedelics, without judgment

Is psychedelic coaching legal?

Yes, Robert's coaching is within legal and ethical boundaries. Ketamine therapy is legally prescribed by medical doctors; Robert provides preparation and integration coaching to support that clinical process. For other psychedelics (MDMA, psilocybin), Robert operates within a harm reduction framework—offering education, safety planning, and support without providing substances. His IPI certification demonstrates commitment to legal, ethical practice.

What is IPI certification?

IPI (Integrative Psychiatry Institute) certification means Robert completed rigorous training in psychedelic-assisted therapy. The curriculum includes pharmacology, drug interactions, trauma-informed care, ethical frameworks, integration protocols, and evidence-based practices. IPI-certified providers understand clinical applications, safety considerations, and how to guide clients through transformative experiences safely. It's a marker of serious, credentialed expertise—not something given casually.

What's the difference between psychedelic therapy and psychedelic coaching?

Psychedelic therapy is provided by licensed clinicians (psychiatrists, psychologists) who work with diagnosed mental health conditions. It may involve substance administration in supervised clinical settings (like ketamine-assisted therapy in a medical clinic).

Psychedelic coaching is preparation and integration support for psychedelic experiences. Robert offers coaching nationwide and is not providing therapy in those sessions. However, he IS a licensed therapist (LCSW) in Connecticut if you need clinical care alongside coaching.

How much does psychedelic coaching cost?

Coaching is private-pay (not insurance-billable). Costs vary based on your package:

  • Preparation package: Typically 2-4 sessions before your experience
  • Integration series: Usually 8-12 weekly sessions (2-3 months) after
  • Full circle: Preparation + integration bundled

Contact Robert for transparent pricing and to discuss what package fits your situation. If you need therapy alongside coaching (especially in Connecticut), that may be insurance-billable.

What substances does Robert work with?

Robert provides preparation and integration coaching for:

  • Legal ketamine therapy: Prescribed by medical doctors in clinical settings. Robert prepares you and supports integration afterward.
  • MDMA: Preparation and integration for people exploring MDMA (legally or in clinical trials)
  • Psilocybin: Coaching for those exploring psilocybin within research, clinical, or personal contexts
  • Other psychedelics: Coaching for people exploring other substances (LSD, mescaline, etc.)

What Robert does NOT do: He does not provide, prescribe, administer, or encourage use of any substances. He does not recommend illegal activity. His role is psychological support and guidance only.

What is harm reduction in psychedelic coaching?

Harm reduction is an approach that acknowledges some people will explore psychedelics regardless of legal status. Rather than judgment or moralizing, harm reduction provides education, safety planning, and compassionate support to minimize risks and maximize beneficial outcomes.

In Robert's work, this means: he meets people where they are, helps them approach experiences thoughtfully, provides safety education, supports them in preparation, and guides thorough integration afterward. This is not encouraging illegal activity—it's responding with care and expertise to people's real choices.

What happens in a preparation session?

Preparation sessions (typically 2-4 before your experience) focus on:

  • Clarifying your intentions—what do you hope to understand, heal, or discover?
  • Assessing your mental health history, current stability, and readiness for a psychedelic experience
  • Exploring potential challenges or difficult material that might emerge
  • Discussing set and setting—the psychological and physical environment for your experience
  • Building coping skills and grounding techniques for navigating challenging moments
  • Creating a safety plan and identifying support

Robert helps you enter your experience with clarity, realistic expectations, and psychological readiness.

What happens in integration sessions?

Integration sessions (typically weekly for 8+ weeks after your experience) help you:

  • Process what happened during your experience—emotions, sensations, visions, insights
  • Work with challenging material that surfaced (trauma memories, fear, grief)
  • Clarify the meaning and lessons from your experience
  • Address any lingering distress or confusion
  • Translate insights into concrete life changes and new behaviors
  • Establish ongoing practices (meditation, journaling, community) supporting your growth

Integration is where the magic happens. A powerful experience doesn't automatically create lasting change—integration does. Robert helps you move from insight to embodied transformation.

Can I do psychedelic coaching remotely via Zoom?

Yes. Robert offers all coaching services nationwide via Zoom. Virtual sessions are effective for preparation and integration work. You don't need to be in Connecticut or travel to receive expert guidance.

The only exception: if you're undergoing ketamine-assisted therapy, that clinical procedure happens in-person with your medical provider. Robert's coaching (before and after) can happen via Zoom.

How long does psychedelic integration coaching take?

Timeline varies based on your experience, goals, and pace:

  • Preparation: Typically 2-4 sessions (weeks before your experience)
  • Integration: Often 8-12 weekly sessions (2-3 months after)
  • Full circle: Expect 3-6 months from initial consultation through solid integration
  • Beyond: Some clients work with Robert longer for deeper development and sustained practice

There's no rush. Integration happens on its own timeline. Robert works at your pace.
