Practice Information
Essential information for getting started
Getting Started
I'm glad you're considering therapy. Whether you're dealing with a specific challenge or seeking personal growth, taking this step shows courage. I offer a free 15-minute consultation call where we can discuss your needs and determine if we're a good fit to work together.
Before our first session, you'll complete intake paperwork (available in the Forms section). This helps me understand your background and what brings you to therapy.
Session Structure
Standard Sessions: Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes and scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and preferences.
Extended Sessions: For deeper work (particularly with EMDR or intensive therapy), I offer 80-minute sessions. These longer sessions allow more time for processing and integration.
Modality: I offer both in-person sessions at my Darien office and virtual sessions via secure video platform. We can discuss which format works best for you.
Practice Model & Fees
Current Insurance Participation: Through December 2025, I accept Aetna, Oxford, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, and Oscar insurance plans. I'm also in-network with Lyra Health.
Transition to Private Pay (January 2026): Beginning in January 2026, I will transition to a private-pay practice model. This means I will no longer bill insurance companies directly. However, I will provide you with superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Why This Change? This transition allows me to spend more time focusing on your care rather than administrative tasks, maintain greater flexibility in our therapeutic approach, and ensure your privacy is maximally protected.
Sliding Scale: I maintain a limited number of sliding scale spots to ensure therapy remains accessible. If cost is a concern, please don't hesitate to discuss this during our consultation call.
Standard Fees (effective January 2026): Fee information will be discussed during the initial consultation and varies based on session length and service type.
Communication & Availability
Response Time: I aim to return all non-urgent calls and emails within 24-36 hours on business days. For scheduling or general questions, email is typically the quickest way to reach me.
Between-Session Contact: Brief check-ins or scheduling requests between sessions are welcome via email. For urgent clinical matters, please call rather than email, as I may not see emails immediately.
Crisis Support
Emergency Situations: If you're experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also contact:
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988 (available 24/7)
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
- Silver Hill Hospital Emergency Services: (203) 966-7368
While I strive to be available to my clients, I cannot guarantee immediate availability for crisis situations. We'll discuss a personalized crisis plan during our early sessions.
Cancellation Policy
Life happens, and I understand that sometimes you need to reschedule. I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee, as that time has been reserved specifically for you.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy is paramount. Everything you share in therapy is confidential with a few legal exceptions:
- If there's an immediate danger to yourself or others
- If there's suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or dependent adult
- If records are subpoenaed by a court (I would inform you first)
For more details, please review the Notice of Privacy Practices and other HIPAA documents in the Forms section.
Therapeutic Approach
My work is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based approaches including:
- EMDR for trauma processing
- DBT-informed skills for emotional regulation
- IFS-informed work for internal conflicts
- Mindfulness and meaning-centered practices
- Life coaching for goal-oriented work
Together, we'll determine which approaches are most helpful for your situation. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and our work will evolve based on what's most beneficial for you.
Special Considerations
Psychedelic Integration Therapy: For clients interested in psychedelic integration, I offer specialized preparation and integration support as an IPI Certified Provider. This includes support for legal ketamine therapy, processing past experiences using harm reduction principles, and education about current research. I do not prescribe, provide, or administer any substances. All services are provided within legal and ethical frameworks only.
Spiritual Exploration: With advanced training in spiritual coaching, I'm comfortable working with clients exploring questions of meaning, purpose, and spirituality—whether within or outside traditional religious frameworks.
