Why Spiritual-Experiential Work Matters

Modern psychology often separates clinical healing from spiritual transformation. But for many people—especially those drawn to profound experiences—these are inseparable. Genuine spiritual experiences can heal what therapy alone cannot. Yet without skilled integration, even transformative experiences can destabilize.

Robert's unique background allows him to hold both:

Clinical Mastery

LCSW, EMDR-trained, DBT-trained, Integrative Psychotherapy Institute certified. 15+ years in behavioral health. Understands trauma, attachment, nervous system regulation.

Genuine Spiritual Depth

Seminary training, 10+ years in philosophy and comparative religion, Transcendental Meditation practitioner, Reiki practitioner, Life Purpose coach certified. Not spiritual theater—lived contemplative experience.

Intellectual Grounding

20 years in software engineering and analytical thinking. Brings rigorous thinking to both mystical experience and clinical work. Bridges the gap between evidence-based practice and genuine mystery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are retreats in-person or online?

Primarily in-person, as embodied presence is essential for this work. Weekend intensives may occasionally include a virtual component, but the core work happens in person. We can discuss options when you reach out.

Do I need prior meditation or spiritual practice experience?

No. What matters is genuine interest and readiness for transformation. If you've had profound experiences (psychedelic or otherwise) and want support integrating them, that's enough.

How much does a retreat cost?

Pricing varies based on duration, format, location, and whether it's individual or group. Weekend intensives typically range $1,500–$2,500; week-long retreats $3,500–$6,000. We discuss specific details and payment options after initial contact.

Are retreats covered by insurance?

Retreat work is typically not billable to insurance as it falls outside standard outpatient psychotherapy. We can discuss payment options, sliding scale, and financing when you reach out.

What if I have active mental health concerns?

We want you to be well-supported. If you're managing significant depression, anxiety, active addiction, or unresolved trauma, we may recommend combining retreat work with ongoing psychotherapy. We'll discuss what makes sense for you.

Can I do a retreat with a friend or partner?

Group retreats welcome small cohorts of people. Bring your partner, friend, or practice community! We can customize based on group dynamics and individual needs.
